Dutch / Afrikaans Audio Transcriptionist (AI Training)

What you will do

• Produce precise, verbatim transcriptions of Dutch-language audio recordings.
• Transcribe challenging recordings with crosstalk, filled pauses, background noise, and multiple simultaneous speakers.
• Identify and distinguish speakers throughout each recording.
• Apply detailed style guides and conventions for non-verbal sounds, incomplete utterances, and other spoken-language phenomena.
• Maintain high accuracy across large volumes of audio and work independently on asynchronous, task-based assignments.

Requirements

• Native or near-native Dutch fluency, or very strong Afrikaans fluency with solid comprehension of Standard Dutch
• Exceptional listening skills for difficult or noisy audio.
• Strong written Dutch, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Highly detail-oriented, methodical, patient, self-motivated, and reliable.
• Ability to follow detailed style and formatting rules consistently.
• Comfort using web-based tools and platforms.

Nice to have

• Professional experience in transcription, stenography, or court reporting.
• Experience with subtitling, closed captioning, or media production.
• Training in linguistics or Dutch, Afrikaans, or Germanic language studies.
• Experience with annotation platforms, data labeling workflows, transcription software, or audio editing tools.
• Understanding of Dutch and Afrikaans phonology and vocabulary.
