TL;DR
Technician / Senior Technician (Cancer Functional Genomics): Supporting cancer functional-genomics experiments involving CRISPR perturbation, cancer cell models, pharmacological assays and molecular profiling with an accent on reproducible experimental workflows and drug-resistance research. Focus on maintaining and characterising cancer models, performing genetic perturbation and drug-response studies, and preparing samples for genomic and transcriptomic analysis.

Location: Milan, Italy; the position is based at the hirify.global campus.

Salary: up to €43,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Maintain, characterise and quality-control parental and drug-resistant cancer cell models.
  • Support pooled and targeted CRISPR perturbation screens, including transfection, transduction and genetic perturbations.
  • Perform drug-response, combination-treatment and cell-viability assays.
  • Conduct DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, western blotting and sample preparation for genomic and transcriptomic profiling.
  • Contribute to cancer dependency mapping, post-perturbation profiling and functional-genomics projects.
  • Maintain experimental records, manage reagents and samples, and coordinate with research facilities and computational teams.

Requirements

  • Degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, biochemistry or a related life-science discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-viability assays.
  • Practical experience with molecular cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR and western blotting.
  • Fluent English is required as the working language.
  • For Senior Technician appointment, substantial relevant experience in an academic, biotechnology or pharmaceutical laboratory is required.
  • Strong organisation, documentation, independent working and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CRISPR-Cas9 editing, pooled functional-genomics screens, transfection, lentiviral production or transduction.
  • Experience with cancer drug-response assays, flow cytometry, 3D spheroids or organoids.
  • Experience with sequencing, single-cell technologies, 10x Genomics or large-scale standardised experiments.
  • Basic knowledge of bioinformatics, data visualisation, R or Python.
