TL;DR
Computer Vision Software Engineer (Robotics): Developing and integrating computer vision applications for a humanoid robotics platform across edge devices and cloud infrastructure with an accent on inference pipelines, model deployment, and real-time performance. Focus on integrating detection, segmentation, and pose estimation models, optimizing GPU inference with ONNX and TensorRT, and building modular Python services for data acquisition and inter-service communication.

Location: Carate Brianza (MB), Italy. Hybrid smart working is available, typically one day per week, subject to team policy.

What you will do

  • Integrate computer vision models for object detection, segmentation, and pose estimation into production software.
  • Develop modular Python services and pipelines for image acquisition, inference, post-processing, and inter-service communication.
  • Deploy and optimize AI applications on NVIDIA Jetson edge devices and cloud infrastructure.
  • Integrate middleware, REST/gRPC APIs, messaging systems, streaming protocols, and IoT communication protocols.
  • Manage AI model conversion, deployment, lifecycle, and real-time performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with AI, Software, and Hardware teams to deliver end-to-end robotics solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • At least two years of software development experience focused on computer vision, robotic perception, or 3D vision systems.
  • Strong Python object-oriented programming skills, including multithreading and asynchronous programming.
  • Experience with RGB-D pipelines, point cloud processing, PCL, WebRTC, and MQTT.
  • Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow models, GPU and edge deployment, ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, CUDA, NVIDIA Jetson, FP16/INT8 quantization, and real-time inference optimization.
  • Familiarity with Git-based collaborative development workflows and a valid driving licence.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ROS or ROS 2.
  • Experience with Docker, MLOps infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models.
  • Familiarity with Vision-Language Models or other emerging AI models for robotics.
