Backend Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Carate Brianza (MB), Italy; hybrid smart working available, typically one day per week subject to team policy.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and Python APIs.
• Build and optimize concurrent systems using asyncio, multithreading, and multiprocessing.
• Architect distributed systems components and real-time communication channels using WebSockets and Pub/Sub systems such as MQTT, NATS, and Redis Pub/Sub.
• Optimize application performance, identify bottlenecks, and ensure platform reliability.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, SQL and NoSQL databases, and contribute to database design.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, robotics engineers, and infrastructure teams through code reviews and technical delivery.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with asyncio, multithreading, and multiprocessing.
• Experience designing distributed systems and working with WebSockets and Pub/Sub messaging.
• Experience with Docker, Git, and database technologies such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
• English proficiency in written and spoken communication; a driving licence is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including GitHub Actions.
• Experience with cloud platforms and Kubernetes.
