Salary: $173K–$197K per year, plus equity

Company

hirify.global develops Pulsar, a low Earth orbit satellite infrastructure platform providing high-precision global positioning and navigational intelligence.

What you will do

  • Develop and own spacecraft materials and processes standards, specifications, approved-material lists, qualification approaches, and production controls.
  • Select, qualify, and characterize metals, coatings, finishes, polymers, adhesives, sealants, thermal interface materials, ceramics, lubricants, and related spacecraft materials.
  • Develop spacecraft coating and surface-finish processes, including an in-house white-paint capability from material selection and application through inspection, validation, and production transfer.
  • Establish qualification and process controls for polymeric systems, bonded joints, thermal-control materials, bolted joints, lubrication, torque-tension behavior, and preload retention.
  • Design and execute material and process tests, interpret data, investigate failures and anomalies, and drive corrective actions.
  • Partner with design, manufacturing, quality, test, suppliers, external laboratories, and production teams to mature reliable flight-hardware processes and documentation.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant materials, processes, manufacturing, qualification, or reliability engineering experience in aerospace, space, defense, aviation, automotive, medical devices, semiconductors, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Experience taking materials or manufacturing processes from development through qualification, documentation, and production implementation.
  • Strong practical experience in multiple areas including coatings, polymerics, adhesives, thermal interface materials, mechanical joints, metals, ceramics, manufacturing processes, or environmental qualification.
  • Experience designing and executing tests, interpreting data, resolving failures or nonconformances, and authoring technical specifications, process instructions, qualification plans, reports, and acceptance criteria.
  • For U.S. export-control compliance, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or other protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Nice to have

  • Spacecraft M&P experience involving vacuum compatibility, contamination control, outgassing, thermal cycling, and environmental qualification.
  • Experience with spacecraft coatings, paints, conversion coatings, plating, anodizing, passivation, thermal-control films, or controlled coating-application areas.
  • Experience with structural or thermal adhesives, polymeric qualification, bolted-joint characterization, ceramics, refractory materials, or high-temperature systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, reliability methods, A-basis and B-basis allowables, statistical process control, or advanced production methods.
  • Experience with suppliers, external laboratories, failure analysis, materials characterization, or fast-moving hardware organizations.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on work across spacecraft development, qualification, manufacturing, and production readiness.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, thermal, electrical, systems, manufacturing, quality, integration, and test teams.
  • Opportunity to establish scalable, high-reliability materials and processes practices as spacecraft production increases.
  • Full-time employment with equity compensation.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to equal consideration for qualified applicants.
