Senior Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer (Wave Energy)

What you will do

• Own the electrical instrumentation, automation, networking, and extra-low-voltage power distribution systems for wave energy converters and wave farm infrastructure.
• Manage the Central Control System module against performance, schedule, and budget targets.
• Define requirements for sensors, actuators, network equipment, digital I/O, industrial PCs, control cabinets, and related components.
• Design industrial communication solutions using fieldbus, wireless, cellular, radio, satellite, and fibre technologies.
• Design systems according to IEC, DNV-GL, marine, control-system, and machine-safety standards.
• Perform failure analysis, design and build verification, functional testing, troubleshooting, and offshore installation support.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience developing instrumentation and automation systems for industrial applications.
• Experience taking products from planning and design through manufacturing and commercialization.
• Experience with autonomous, reliable, responsive, real-time control systems and their testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of instrumentation technologies, robust modular system design, industrial networking, CAN, EtherCAT, TCP-based communication, and low-level communications.
• Experience with networking redundancy protocols such as RSTP and PRP, plus integration of radio, satellite, cellular, and fibre data links.
• Proficient spoken and written English required. A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in electrical engineering or a related discipline is useful but not essential.

Nice to have

• Experience working in harsh environments such as offshore or mining.
• Knowledge of marine, control-system, and machine-safety standards.
• Experience with EPLAN and electrical design tools.
