Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Location: Portugal; hybrid work. Candidates must live in Portugal or be legally qualified to live and work there.

Salary: €39,360–€60,600 gross per year.

What you will do

• Deliver production-level, cloud-native machine learning solutions.
• Apply MLOps practices to make machine learning systems sustainable.
• Develop, train, evaluate, and improve machine learning models.
• Perform feature engineering and work with gradient boosting, deep learning, and time-series tooling.
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams on multidisciplinary projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or a closely related role.
• Academic background in computer science, data science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong Python proficiency and experience with Git, code reviews, linters, unit tests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with LightGBM, XGBoost, scikit-learn, PyTorch, MLflow, and current time-series tools.
• Strong understanding of feature engineering, machine learning algorithms, model training, and evaluation.
• Fluent spoken and written English; legal qualification to live and work in Portugal.

Nice to have

• Experience using Cursor IDE and GitHub Copilot for code development, refactoring, and debugging.
• Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and industries.
