Principal Engineer, Quality Platform (AI)

What you will do

• Own the multi-quarter technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for the QA platform.
• Build CLIs, MCPs, full-stack web applications, frameworks, and AI agents used by QA engineers, developers, and other users.
• Prototype complex or high-risk solutions and own production reliability, security, and cost.
• Define quality engineering standards, review designs and code, and mentor engineers across QA Enablement and the QA chapter.
• Partner with engineering leadership and the Engineering Enablement PM to drive technical readiness and adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including complex system design and delivery.
• Experience setting technical direction across multiple teams and building platforms, frameworks, or developer tools adopted by engineers.
• Deep hands-on backend and infrastructure experience designing, building, and operating distributed, highly available production systems.
• Expertise in at least one backend language and experience building and shipping LLM- or agent-based tools with measurable quality evaluation.
• Experience with test infrastructure, developer productivity, or CI/CD at scale, plus strong technical writing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building evaluation infrastructure for LLM or agent output and testing non-deterministic systems.
• Experience providing context to AI agents through MCPs and CLIs.
• Experience consolidating fragmented tooling into shared standards.
• Front-end skills sufficient to build usable internal tools.
• Experience with Java, Python, GCP, Kubernetes, TypeScript, or Playwright.
