Staff Software Engineer (AI Platform)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid working model with in-person collaboration in the office and remote work. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are available where applicable.

Salary: $276.1K–$311.4K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build high-quality platforms, tools, and reusable abstractions for machine learning engineers and researchers.
• Design and write Python for scalable AI platform systems used across large GPU clusters.
• Develop modular libraries for multimodal data loading, distributed training and inference, checkpointing, and observability.
• Improve system reliability, performance, and developer experience across hirify.global.
• Lead projects from requirements discovery through delivery, adoption, and long-term maintenance.
• Set technical direction and raise engineering standards for architecture, testing, and observability.

Requirements

• Deep Python expertise and experience leading the design, delivery, and evolution of high-quality software systems at scale.
• Ability to turn complex machine learning requirements into stable, reusable libraries and clear APIs.
• Experience with concurrent, parallel, or distributed computing.
• Hands-on software and platform engineering experience at Staff level; this is not an ML modelling role.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is valuable.
• Cloud experience, ideally with Azure, is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with Azure cloud environments.
• Experience working with camera, radar, lidar, and other autonomous-driving data sources.
