Staff Frontend Developer (Next.js)

What you will do

• Drive the architecture of complex Next.js applications for high-traffic, web-native products.
• Design and scale applications using SSR, SSG, ISR, RSC, caching, and the Next.js App Router.
• Build fast, accessible interfaces optimized for Core Web Vitals and SEO.
• Develop reusable frontend architecture, tooling, and abstractions.
• Establish shift-left development practices and rigorous automated testing for reliable production applications.
• Own architectural decisions and product impact in a self-organized environment.

Requirements

• 9+ years of professional engineering experience, with a strong focus on high-traffic web-native products such as SaaS, consumer web, or large-scale digital platforms.
• Deep expertise in Next.js architecture, rendering strategies, caching, and the App Router ecosystem.
• Strong command of vanilla JavaScript, browser mechanics, DOM manipulation, and the fundamentals of the open web.
• Experience with Core Web Vitals, SEO optimization, accessible interfaces, and automated testing.
• Passion, self-direction, ownership, and the ability to work effectively in a self-organized environment.
• Must be based in Portugal for the remote role.

Nice to have

• Experience enabling AI development through reusable frontend architecture, tooling, and abstractions.
