Designer (EdTech)

Location: Melbourne, Australia. Full-time permanent hybrid role with regular in-person attendance at the Melbourne CBD office; typically, several days are spent in the office and several days at home.

What you will do

• Design engaging science lessons for digital and print applications using layout, typography, hierarchy, colour, and visual systems.
• Create interactive simulations, drag-and-drop activities, models, and data visualizations that help students understand scientific concepts.
• Create, edit, and adapt scientific and educational illustrations, diagrams, labelled figures, and process visuals.
• Collaborate with writers, learning designers, and engineers from concept through production.
• Support accessible lesson experiences for students with diverse abilities and assistive technologies.
• Participate in design critique and continue developing interaction design and AI tooling skills.

Requirements

• Solid graphic design fundamentals in layout, typography, hierarchy, and colour.
• A portfolio demonstrating consistent, high-volume design work within an established visual language.
• Interest in interactive work and the ability to adapt and evolve an existing visual language.
• Good-to-strong Adobe Illustrator skills.
• Comfort working with writers, editors, and engineers.
• Ability to work from Melbourne, Australia, with regular office attendance.

Nice to have

• Experience designing educational, explanatory, or instructional content.
• Ability to prototype in code.
• Willingness to use AI tooling to develop interaction prototypes.
• Motion or animation skills.
