Location: The compensation range for this role is $150k-180k for individuals based full-time in San Francisco, CA.

What you will do

  • Lead reliability engineering efforts across hardware programs, ensuring components and systems meet demanding performance, environmental, and durability requirements.
  • Apply Design for Reliability (DfR) principles throughout the product lifecycle to proactively mitigate failure risks.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies to uncover failure modes, validate hardware, and model expected field performance.
  • Plan and run Design of Experiments (DOE) to isolate root causes and address key reliability concerns.
  • Design and optimize test fixtures and setups to evaluate hardware under electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental stresses.
  • Champion continuous improvement in reliability processes and tools across hardware engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of hands-on reliability engineering experience, preferably in electromechanical systems or sensors.
  • Proven track record in testing and validating hardware components for long-term field performance.
  • Strong understanding of physics of failure and reliability engineering principles.
  • Experience with environmental and mechanical stress testing.
  • Familiarity with reliability analysis tools and techniques: FMEA, Weibull analysis, SPC, HALT/HASS, and accelerated life testing.
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
