Staff Data Scientist, Office of the Founders

Location: Hybrid in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia — 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week from home

What you will do

• Partner with founders and executives to shape strategy, identify opportunities, and frame high-impact business questions.
• Assess strategic investments and partnerships, quantify trade-offs, and recommend what to pursue, test, scale, or stop.
• Define success measures with Finance and functional leaders, track outcomes, and recommend course corrections.
• Build and own datasets, analytical models, driver-based forecasts, and operating models for company performance.
• Influence executive and board decisions through clear recommendations, constructive challenge, and transparent communication of analytical assumptions and limitations.
• Promote rigorous practices in metrics, forecasting, and statistical analysis across the company.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience as a Data Scientist or in a comparable analytical role at a high-growth technology company.
• Experience shaping strategic decisions with founders and executives, with examples of analysis changing business outcomes.
• Experience building driver-based forecasts or operating models and being accountable for their accuracy.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, modern analytics tools, pipelines, and dataset development.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Ability to work from the Melbourne or Sydney office 3 days per week.
