Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in Gilching, Bavaria, Germany, with the option to work remotely one flexible day per week.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and operate scalable ML and data pipelines for data ingestion, dataset creation, model training, and validation.
• Build a reproducible ML platform across local, on-premises, and cloud GPU infrastructure.
• Develop systems for large-scale multimodal datasets including imagery, LiDAR, odometry, ground truth, and simulation data.
• Establish dataset and model versioning, metadata management, quality checks, and traceability from raw sensor data to validated artifacts.
• Optimize distributed training, job scheduling, GPU allocation, caching, high-throughput data access, reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Build AI-powered internal tools for semantic data search, metadata enrichment, automatic annotation, and quality assessment, while mentoring engineers and contributing to architecture.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong Python software engineering skills and experience building reliable workflows for data-intensive ML systems.
• Several years of hands-on experience with production ML platforms, MLOps systems, or large-scale data and training pipelines.
• Knowledge of the ML lifecycle, including dataset preparation, distributed training, experiment management, model validation, and reproducibility.
• Experience with cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, workflow orchestration, experiment tracking, artifact management, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and access control.
• Confident English communication and willingness to work on-site in Gilching, Germany, with limited remote work availability.
