Full Stack QA Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Almaty, Kazakhstan; on-site at the employer's location with a hybrid format

What you will do

• Perform functional and integration testing of secure payment services and backend systems.
• Test REST APIs, microservices, external integrations, Kafka messaging, and asynchronous event processing.
• Validate payment transaction states and transitions, including success, decline, cancellation, refund, pending, and error scenarios.
• Use SQL to verify database results and cross-check API responses, Kafka events, and stored records.
• Develop and maintain automated API and integration tests, regression scenarios, and test data.
• Analyze logs, trace requests across distributed services, report defects, verify fixes, and assess regression risks.

Requirements

• 3+ years of commercial experience in functional and integration testing of backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with REST API testing, interconnected systems, synchronous and asynchronous Kafka integrations, and event-driven architecture.
• Strong SQL skills and experience validating data consistency across APIs, Kafka, and databases.
• Experience automating API and integration tests, as well as testing retries, timeouts, duplicate requests or events, failures, and recovery scenarios.
• Understanding of HTTP, JSON, REST, authentication, authorization, test design techniques, and distributed-system log analysis.
• Intermediate English or higher; the role is based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Nice to have

• Experience with banking, payment, or fintech projects and knowledge of payment transaction lifecycles.
• Experience with Go, Python, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or similar automation tools.
• Experience testing iOS and Android applications.
• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
