TL;DR
Middle Test Automation Engineer (Networking + Python) (Software-Defined Networking): Validating the reliability, scalability, security, and usability of SD-WAN products through Python and Playwright automation, REST API testing, and CI/CD integration with an accent on networking fundamentals and end-to-end product workflows. Focus on analyzing failures, resolving flaky tests, troubleshooting network behavior, and preventing regressions across distributed engineering systems.
Location: Ukraine; remote or office work

What you will do
- Design and execute test strategies for Catalyst SD-WAN features and end-to-end product workflows.
- Develop and maintain Python-based test automation and UI automation with Playwright or comparable frameworks.
- Test RESTful APIs, including authentication, payload validation, positive and negative scenarios, and error handling.
- Analyze failures, logs, stack traces, API responses, browser artifacts, and system behavior to identify root causes.
- Improve test stability, coverage, performance, reliability, and maintainability by resolving flaky automation tests.
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines, manage defects through resolution, and collaborate with platform, backend, frontend, networking, and infrastructure teams.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in UI test automation, QA automation, or SDET roles.
- Strong networking knowledge at CCNA/CCNP level, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VRFs, NAT, DHCP, DNS, QoS, BGP, and OSPF.
- Hands-on experience with Python test automation, Playwright or a comparable browser automation framework, and HTTP/RESTful API testing.
- Practical network troubleshooting experience using packet captures, logs, counters, and device CLI, plus knowledge of SD-WAN underlay and overlay networks, planes, controllers, tunnels, segmentation, VPNs, routing policies, high availability, and failover.
- Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD integration using Jenkins or similar tools, and engineering tools such as Jira, GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins.
- Upper-intermediate English or higher required for collaboration with international teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of network security technologies such as firewalls, ZTNA, and SASE.
- Experience testing enterprise networking, SD-WAN, cloud networking, routing, switching, or security products.
