Director of Security Operations and Engineering

What you will do

• Lead Security Operations and Security Engineering, reporting to the CISO and contributing to security leadership strategy.
• Own end-to-end incident response, including intake, severity modeling, investigations with Legal, after-action reviews, and continuous improvement.
• Direct detection engineering, threat hunting, and the SIEM, EDR, SOAR, and cloud security platforms.
• Build preventive controls based on least privilege and identity assurance across employees, contractors, and build systems.
• Develop insider threat capabilities, security automation, and agentic AI workflows while retaining analyst decision ownership.
• Scale the security program through organizational design, hiring, roadmaps, budgets, vendor strategy, and integration of acquired companies and new environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of management experience leading security teams.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, incident response, detection, or security engineering.
• Experience scaling a security function through rapid growth, including hiring, automation, and operating discipline.
• Ability to translate technical risk into business impact for executives, Legal, customers, IT, and Product stakeholders.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Comfort working in a remote-first environment with flexible schedules and on-call responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Hands-on scripting or automation experience with Python, Go, or similar technologies.
• Experience applying AI or agent-based automation to security workflows.
• Cloud security experience and experience integrating security after mergers and acquisitions.
• Experience building insider threat or identity assurance programs.
