Combat Game Designer (Strategy/MMO): Designing and delivering combat gameplay, content, and systems for an unannounced cross-platform strategy/MMO title with an accent on character combat, player progression, and scalable live game systems. Focus on refining moment-to-moment interactions, collaborating across design, product, art, and engineering, and using data, feedback, and playtests to improve combat experiences.
Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid work with 3 days per week from the hub
Annual salary range for candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY, and WA: $1–$2 USD, excluding potential equity, bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do
- Design, develop, and deliver combat gameplay for an unannounced cross-platform strategy/MMO title.
- Build and refine character combat, including moment-to-moment gameplay, cameras, controls, and player journeys.
- Create gameplay content for different player progressions and game modes.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, artists, and engineers to implement combat content and systems.
- Document workflows and best practices for designers creating additional content.
- Evaluate combat performance through data, player feedback, and playtesting while identifying high-ROI improvements and planning for long-term system extensibility.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing content and gameplay systems for live, free-to-play games, preferably in 4X or ARPG genres.
- Strong passion for combat and gameplay design.
- Strong knowledge of Unity or Unreal workflows and behavioral component implementation.
- Excellent communication skills, including gathering feedback, aligning stakeholders, and iterating collaboratively.
- Ability to work independently in a highly collaborative environment.
- Résumé/CV must be written in English.
