Engineering Manager (Platform) (AI-native healthcare): Leading the platform engineering team that builds reliable infrastructure and shared LLM/RAG systems for patient and provider workflows with an accent on system architecture, scalability, observability, security, and developer velocity. Focus on developing engineers, setting technical direction, measuring platform health, and building auditable systems that operate safely under rapid growth and regulatory complexity.
Location: New York City or San Francisco; exceptions may be considered for exceptional candidates.

is building an AI-native, patient-friendly healthcare system centered on nutrition, serving patients and dietitians across all 50 states.
What you will do
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of 4–5 platform engineers.
- Coach engineers through feedback, career development, performance management, and promotions.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new engineers.
- Stay hands-on with architecture, pair programming, coding, code reviews, and on-call work.
- Set technical direction for reliable, scalable, observable infrastructure and shared LLM/RAG systems.
- Partner with engineering, security, IT, and legal teams on platform health, compliance, and auditable systems.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience and 2+ years of hands-on engineering management experience.
- Experience hiring engineers and managing performance, promotions, and career development.
- Ability to pair program and contribute directly to production systems.
- High proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, ECS on AWS, or similar modern stacks.
- Experience shipping and owning production systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Strong technical judgment, communication, delivery focus, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Healthcare or regulated-industry experience, including HIPAA-covered systems, BAAs, and access controls.
- Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform or AWS CDK.
- Observability experience with OpenTelemetry or similar tooling.
- Incident leadership, developer experience, internal tooling, or security engineering experience.
- Experience with SOC 2 compliance and principle-of-least-privilege enforcement.
