TL;DR
Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Capacitor Production (Manufacturing/High-Voltage Capacitors): Owning and improving the wound film capacitor production line in Tucson with an accent on yield, process capability, quality, documentation, and production rate. Focus on leading root cause corrective actions, controlling multi-day vacuum drying and impregnation constraints, qualifying equipment and process changes, and sustaining standard work on the production floor.
Location: Tucson, Arizona; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, permanent residents, refugees, or asylees lawfully admitted to the United States.
Company
hirify.global develops inertial fusion energy systems and pulsed-power laser technology to support decarbonized power generation.
What you will do
Own manufacturing process execution, documentation, standard work, process capability baselines, and production controls for the wound film capacitor line.
Improve yield, first-pass yield, cycle time, cost, and output through statistical process control, data analysis, Lean initiatives, and verified corrective actions.
Lead root cause corrective action for process failures, electrical acceptance test failures, nonconforming material, scrap, rework, and process-driven escapes.
Manage process equipment, tooling, fixtures, setup parameters, qualification after maintenance, and targeted automation or mechanization improvements.
Run process changes through change control, including qualification, documentation updates, operator retraining, safety reviews, and approval.
Work directly on the production floor, coach operators and technicians, maintain process discipline, and address hazards involving solvents, resins, elevated temperatures, and high-voltage stored energy.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
7+ years of manufacturing or process engineering experience supporting active production, with direct responsibility for yield, rate, or process capability on a shipping production line.
Demonstrated measurable process improvement experience and the ability to write and enforce work instructions and change-control procedures.
Experience with structured problem solving, root cause corrective action, statistical process control, process capability, and practical data analysis.
Experience in electronics, capacitor, high-voltage, or precision manufacturing; proficiency with an MES or ERP and Microsoft Office.
U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status is required. A pre-employment background check must be satisfied.
Nice to have
Film and foil capacitor manufacturing, winding, margin control, metallization, swaging, resin potting, oil-filled assembly, or HiPot testing.
Vacuum drying and impregnation, pulsed power, Marx generators, pulse-forming networks, or high-energy-density applications.
Experience scaling a line from pilot build to rate production and developing PFMEAs, control plans, or operator qualification programs.
Lean or Six Sigma certification and experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems.
Mentoring engineers or technicians, building an engineering team, or using a modern cloud MES such as Boltline.
Culture & Benefits
Full-time, on-site work in Tucson Operations.
Daily collaboration with operators, technicians, production leadership, Quality, Maintenance, and design and development teams.
Safety-focused production practices aligned with OSHA regulations and company safety policy.
Work on active production lines that are scaling toward higher manufacturing rates.
