Staff iOS Engineer (Bitcoin)

Location: Remote within the Bay Area, California, United States

Salary: $263,600–$395,400 USD per year, depending on location, skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.

What you will do

• Build and evolve native iOS products for bitcoin, stablecoin, and non-custodial wallet experiences across Cash App, Square, and Bitkey.
• Own complex features end to end, including client architecture, service integration, testing, rollout, observability, and post-launch improvements.
• Prototype new interactions, shape customer journeys, and make architectural and delivery tradeoffs with product, design, backend, Android, and web partners.
• Lead technical direction, architecture reviews, shared components, and cross-team initiatives that improve iOS development quality and velocity.
• Integrate and evaluate AI-assisted development tools while verifying their outputs and maintaining security, privacy, reliability, and software quality.
• Mentor engineers, communicate complex decisions clearly, and contribute to technical standards and open-source bitcoin and stablecoin technology where valuable.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years building native iOS products.
• Deep experience with Swift, Apple frameworks, foundational systems, shared frameworks, and team-wide tooling.
• Experience leading strategic initiatives with broad adoption and durable impact.
• Strong systems thinking, technical communication, mentoring, and organizational influence.
• Ability to work remotely from the Bay Area, California, United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with large modular iOS applications, UIKit or Objective-C codebases, build systems, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, observability, or mobile performance.
• Experience with financial services, commerce, high-trust customer products, experimentation infrastructure, feature flags, or large-scale delivery.
• Experience with bitcoin, stablecoin, and non-custodial technologies.
• Experience leading work outside an existing team roadmap.
