ML Scientist (Cybersecurity)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; hybrid working with regular access to the Barcelona office.

What you will do

• Work with the Security team to understand current and emerging attacks against mobile applications and frame them as data problems.
• Analyze telemetry from ClickHouse and S3 data lakes to identify signals, patterns, and anomalies.
• Design, prototype, and evaluate anomaly detection, classification, behavioral, and event time-series models.
• Define detection metrics, acceptable false-positive rates, and evaluation methods when complete ground truth is unavailable.
• Move validated prototypes toward production with engineering and establish features, datasets, and labeling processes for the ML capability.
• Track research in security-focused ML and turn relevant findings into practical ideas.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience researching and developing ML models on real-world problems, or a PhD with applied experience.
• Strong knowledge of anomaly detection and unsupervised or semi-supervised learning.
• Experience working with large-scale telemetry, logs, time series, or user and device behavior data.
• Strong Python skills, including pandas or polars, scikit-learn, and PyTorch or a similar framework.
• Advanced SQL skills and the ability to work directly with raw data lakes without prepared datasets.
• Ability to turn research ideas into evaluable prototypes and communicate results to non-technical stakeholders, with a strong interest in cybersecurity.

Nice to have

• Experience in mobile security, EDR, banking anti-fraud, or intrusion detection.
• Knowledge of adversarial machine learning, model evasion, or model robustness.
• Experience with AWS S3, ClickHouse, or other high-volume analytical databases.
• Publications, open-source contributions, talks, or experience deploying ML models to production.
