Security Engineer (IT/OT Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role based in Bucharest, Romania, with work from the Bucharest office, the test site in Forchheim, or a home office. Willingness to travel to customer sites across Europe and internationally, approximately 50%, is required.

What you will do

• Design IT/OT security strategies and secure patch-management procedures focused on system integrity and minimizing downtime.
• Set up and operate test environments that simulate production systems, including vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, and security-update testing.
• Install security updates on customer systems, handle second- and third-level support cases, and develop rollback and troubleshooting strategies.
• Create technical documentation and vulnerability-analysis reports while maintaining the asset-management system.
• Advise customers, internal departments, and suppliers on IT/OT security issues and contribute technical expertise to proposals and customer solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in network and communications technology, computer science, or IT security, or relevant vocational training with several years of professional experience.
• Several years of cybersecurity experience, preferably in critical infrastructure, with knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, WSUS, virtualization, and IT administration.
• Knowledge of industrial IT-security standards such as BDEW, NERC-CIP, and IEC 62443.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50%, including several days at customer sites across Europe and international travel.
• English is required; basic German is a plus.
• Customer orientation, teamwork, intercultural interest, commitment, and a pragmatic approach to solving technical challenges.
