Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform (AI/Fintech)

Location: Remote within the United States

Base salary: $190,000–$230,000 per year, depending on U.S. labor market, location, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate distributed services and compute infrastructure for the data platform, including containerized AWS workloads, autoscaling, resource sizing, and orchestration.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and data-moving services covering ingestion, orchestration, transformation, and delivery.
• Improve event-sourced data movement between production systems, the data platform, and downstream services.
• Own production issues and participate in on-call support for distributed data systems.
• Build AI-ready data infrastructure, including support for unstructured data, production AI workloads, data interfaces, and curated data delivery.
• Mentor engineers and analysts while setting standards for testing, code review, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems, including substantial work with data-intensive systems.
• Experience designing distributed systems and reasoning about concurrency, backpressure, idempotency, partial failure, and system tradeoffs.
• Production experience running containerized workloads on AWS, including scaling, resource sizing, performance, and cost tuning.
• Experience with automated testing, code review, CI/CD, infrastructure as code such as Terraform, and independent ownership of complex production systems.
• Experience with workflow orchestration at scale, including Airflow or equivalent tools.
• Strong interest in using AI tools and workflow automation as a primary way of working.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-sourced or append-only log systems, change data capture, Kafka, or Kinesis.
• Knowledge of Snowflake or equivalent cloud data warehouses, including access control, performance tuning, and cost management.
• Experience deploying and monitoring machine learning models in production.
• Experience with data lakehouse architectures, Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or AI-driven data access and governance.
• Background in fintech, financial services, or another regulated industry.
