Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Quito, Ecuador; hybrid work with two days per week in the office

hirify.global is a software consultancy delivering long-running client engagements and outcome-based software projects with teams in the United States, Ecuador, and other countries.

What you will do

• Manage approximately 8–10 people across three to four small client project teams, including 1:1s, growth plans, performance assessments, onboarding, and promotion recommendations.
• Own the product and delivery picture across client projects, including scope, milestones, acceptance criteria, margin protection, and alignment with client product owners.
• Lead client communication, provide early visibility into risks, and resolve or escalate delivery and commercial questions.
• Use AI tools daily and define each project's AI working agreement covering specification, evaluation, review, security, and rollback.
• Support AI adoption through pairing and practice, while ensuring developers understand and review AI-generated work.
• Report team skills, capacity, readiness, risks, and delivery status to leadership.

Requirements

• At least three years managing software engineers or software delivery teams, including one year with people management as the primary responsibility.
• Experience owning scope, schedule, and outcomes for client software projects, ideally including fixed-price or outcome-based work.
• Daily hands-on use of AI tools in software work and a strong understanding of specification, evaluation, review, and guardrails.
• Strong grounding in the software development lifecycle and client-facing judgment.
• Clear written and spoken Spanish and English at C1 or equivalent.
• Based in Quito and able to work from the office two days per week. A bachelor's degree is required.

Nice to have

• Senior technical-lead experience for highly technical projects.
• Background as a developer, QA lead, technical project manager, product manager, or solutions engineer who has managed software teams.
