TL;DR
Software Engineer in Test (SDET) (Ingeniero de Software en Pruebas) - Remote First (Playwright/TypeScript, Java/Spring Boot): Building automation frameworks, APIs, services, and internal tools that support test execution, reporting, and CI/CD across Clara's QA platform with an accent on scalable test infrastructure and fullstack engineering. Focus on enabling AI-assisted test generation, reducing flakiness, integrating delivery workflows, and improving testability across product teams.
Location: Remote-first hybrid role based in Bogota D.C., Colombia; Mexico City, Mexico; or Sao Paulo, Brazil. Office presence is expected naturally, especially during ramp-up or when requested by the leader.

What you will do
- Design and implement shared web and API automation frameworks and libraries, preferably with Playwright.
- Build backend APIs and fullstack tools for test-case storage, run-result persistence, reporting, and test-management workflows.
- Integrate QA automation with Linear, Slack, GitHub Actions, and other delivery workflows.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines for smoke and regression suites, diagnose failures, and reduce test flakiness.
- Structure automation frameworks for AI-assisted test generation and reliable agent or CLI execution.
- Collaborate with QA and product engineers to improve testability, test data, APIs, selectors, and environments.
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience in backend or fullstack engineering, with automation or developer-tooling delivery.
- Strong TypeScript or JavaScript skills for Playwright or equivalent end-to-end frameworks.
- Experience building and maintaining web and API test automation frameworks, including knowledge of the test pyramid.
- Backend fundamentals covering REST APIs, relational databases, authentication, and clean service boundaries.
- Experience with CI/CD, GitHub Actions or similar tools, Docker, Git, and systematic debugging of flaky tests and integration failures.
- Good written and verbal English is required. Spanish is a plus.
Nice to have
- SDET, SET, or test infrastructure engineering experience.
- React, Next.js, Appium, BrowserStack, n8n, Linear or GitHub API integrations, and AI or agent tooling.
- AWS, observability, fintech or payments experience, or experience replacing external test-management tools.
