BIOS Senior/Lead Software Engineer

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Base pay: CAD 120,000–195,000 per year across Canada

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain low-level CPU software, firmware, BIOS, and boot loader components.
• Bring up new CPU boards and work with hardware and vendor teams to qualify CPUs and related components.
• Develop automated validation tests using C, C++, and Python.
• Track Linux kernel developments and contribute features to upstream open-source BIOS communities.
• Diagnose and resolve issues found in system testing and customer networks.
• Provide technical leadership across projects and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS with 8+ years of experience, MS with 6+ years, PhD with 3+ years, or equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
• Expert knowledge and extensive experience programming in C.
• Experience developing CPU firmware, BIOS, and boot loader software, including new CPU board bring-up and low-level debugging.
• Experience with x86 and ARM architectures and modern software engineering practices.
• Strong software design, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in small teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of C++ and Python.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation.
• Understanding of IP networking architecture, design, and principles.
