Senior/Lead Software Engineer (Networking)

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Base pay: $120,000–$195,000 across Canada annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Design functional and technical specifications for traffic-forwarding features used in internet and cloud data center networks.
• Implement EOS software solutions using C, C++, and Python.
• Create test plans and automated tests, monitor test execution, and debug failures.
• Work with engineers on routing protocol problems and distributed networking functionality.
• Analyze customer and system-test issues and deliver software releases or patches.
• Review implementations, mentor junior engineers, and track project schedules through delivery.

Requirements

• Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering degree with 8+ years of experience for a BS, 6+ years for an MS, or 3+ years for a PhD, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of C, C++, and/or Python, plus UNIX or Linux.
• Understanding of L2/L3 networking and routing or Layer 2 protocols such as RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, PIM, STP, LACP, or LLDP.
• Experience with packet-forwarding engines, vendor software libraries, distributed systems, messaging, databases, or command-line interfaces.
• Strong software engineering, troubleshooting, problem-solving, testing, and debugging skills.
• Experience independently designing and implementing small solutions and collaborating on larger networking problems.
