Senior/Lead Software Engineer (Packet Forwarding Engines)

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Salary: CAD 120,000–195,000 base pay per year across Canada

What you will do

• Develop packet forwarding engine and system software for ASIC-based networking hardware and Arista EOS.
• Write functional and design specifications, implementation code, test plans, and automated test programs.
• Bring up new hardware, develop low-level hardware drivers, and support hardware components such as temperature sensors and fan controllers.
• Debug automated, system, and customer network issues and deliver software fixes, releases, or patches.
• Collaborate with hardware, diagnostic software, system test, customer support, and component vendor teams.
• Mentor junior engineers, review implementations, and help schedule and track project delivery.

Requirements

• BS with 8 years of experience, MS with 6 years, PhD with 3 years, or equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
• Professional experience with C or C++ and strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux, IP networking, or distributed systems.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and software troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to independently design and implement small solutions and contribute to larger team projects with limited oversight.
