Junior Backend Developer (iGaming)

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Company

Develops and maintains an online gambling platform for casino games and integrations with online casino operators worldwide.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and optimize RESTful API services for player actions and financial transactions.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable PHP and JavaScript code.
• Fix bugs, troubleshoot software defects, and support maintenance of core backend services.
• Participate in code reviews and apply team engineering standards.
• Collaborate with QA Engineers to ensure reliable deployments.
• Take part in training, technical discussions, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Practical experience or strong foundational knowledge in PHP web development, including willingness to work with plain PHP and frameworks.
• Basic understanding of JavaScript, Node.js, REST APIs, HTTP methods, and web architecture.
• Working knowledge of MySQL or MariaDB, including queries and basic schema design.
• Foundational Docker knowledge and familiarity with Git version control.
• Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and team-oriented communication.
• Fluent English is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of software design principles and experience with Node.js.
• Familiarity with PHPUnit, Codeception, or other unit and integration testing tools.
• Basic knowledge of Nginx, Apache, CI/CD, or automated deployment tools.
