Staff Platform Engineer (Observability)

Location: Remote in Brazil; this role is only open to candidates in Brazil

What you will do

• Build and evolve a self-service Observability as a Service platform for the engineering organization.
• Design Golden Paths, defaults, templates, CLIs, and operators that simplify instrumentation and service ownership.
• Design and evolve cloud-native platform components across Kubernetes and AWS.
• Identify and resolve platform-level cost, reliability, performance, and developer-experience problems.
• Set technical standards through RFCs, review designs, and mentor engineers as a technical reference.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and its ecosystem, including experience running production clusters.
• Production experience with AWS or another major cloud provider, including networking, IAM, cost, and failure modes.
• Strong software engineering skills and experience building tools that remove manual work.
• Experience in platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure, or a related area supporting multiple engineering teams.
• Production observability experience with metrics, logs, or traces; experience with the exact stack is not required.
• Fluent English and Portuguese, spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Tempo, or similar open-source observability tools.
• Experience building internal tools, CLIs, Kubernetes operators, or using Crossplane.
• Service mesh knowledge, cost optimization or FinOps experience, and CNCF certifications.
