Payroll Specialist (German Payroll)

What you will do

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for Germany in line with legislation and internal controls.
• Handle payroll-related queries covering taxes, social security contributions, deductions, and payroll guidance.
• Coordinate with external payroll providers to ensure service quality, compliance, and agreed service levels.
• Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and validations across payroll and HR systems.
• Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes, controls, and employee experience.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience managing German payroll.
• Strong knowledge of German payroll legislation, taxation, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Fluent German and English, with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly.
• Experience with payroll providers, payroll systems, and HRIS platforms in a corporate or shared services environment.
• Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, Pivot Tables, and lookup functions.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

• Experience in a multinational organization or global payroll environment.
• Exposure to payroll projects, system implementations, or process transformation.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior payroll professionals.
