Software Test Engineer (QA)

Location: Hybrid role based in Bracknell, United Kingdom; Monday–Thursday 09:00–17:30 and Friday 09:00–17:00

Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per year, dependent on experience

Work with an established and growing financial services organisation expanding its technology team and improving software quality across business-critical applications.

What you will do

• Own testing across Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, custom applications, APIs, integrations, and business processes.
• Develop testing strategies, standards, documentation, test plans, scenarios, and completion reports.
• Review requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify risks and improve testability.
• Perform functional, integration, API, regression, exploratory, end-to-end, and User Acceptance Testing.
• Investigate and manage defects using SQL queries, application logs, browser developer tools, and API testing tools.
• Identify automation opportunities, introduce automated regression testing, and report on coverage, risks, defects, and release readiness.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of practical software testing experience with business-critical applications.
• Strong hands-on manual testing experience and knowledge of functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and UAT testing.
• Experience testing APIs and system integrations, including REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Good understanding of SQL for test data preparation, investigation, and validation.
• Experience managing defects through discovery, triage, resolution, retesting, and closure.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, model-driven applications, or Microsoft Dataverse.
• Automated browser testing with Playwright and API testing with Postman or Newman.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, C#/.NET, JavaScript, NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated test execution, or ISTQB certification.
• Experience in financial services, leasing, or other regulated environments.
