What you will do
- Assess the size, shape, weight, and center of gravity of loads and verify that crane lifting capacities are not exceeded.
- Attach loads to hoisting equipment using appropriate clamps, hooks, bolts, knots, slings, and lifting gear.
- Select suitable rigging and grappling devices and protect slings from sharp corners.
- Monitor the lifting path for people and obstacles and communicate with crane or winch operators using signals, whistles, or two-way radios.
- Guide loads safely into position during lowering operations.
- Lift and shift heavy equipment, large pipes, and control valves using cranes with capacities up to 500T.
Requirements
- Secondary education certificate covering 12 years of study; an Industrial Training Institute certificate is preferred.
- At least 7 years of relevant hands-on experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or fertilizer industry.
- Relevant competency for rigging operations.
- Valid rigging certificate issued by a competent and certified agency.
