Technical Project Assistant (Agriculture)

Location: Karbala, Iraq; candidates must be Iraqi nationals or residents of Iraq with a valid work permit.

What you will do

• Support field implementation of agricultural activities focused on date palm production systems and related value chains.
• Assist with crop management, Good Agricultural Practices, crop protection, and Integrated Pest Management activities.
• Support Farmer Field Schools, farmer training, workshops, conferences, field visits, and related logistics.
• Assist with post-harvest treatment, processing, marketing activities, and preparation of technical and training materials.
• Collect, organize, monitor, and analyze field data, including reports from facilitators and Survey123.
• Maintain project records, equipment distribution and warehouse inventories, communication materials, and periodic activity reports.

Requirements

• University degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Protection, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in agricultural field projects.
• Working knowledge of Arabic is required.
• Must be an Iraqi national or a resident of Iraq with a valid work permit.
• Experience with crop management, Integrated Pest Management, Good Agricultural Practices, and agricultural extension activities.
• Experience in field data collection, analysis, reporting, logistics coordination, and field operations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of post-harvest handling and agricultural value chains.
• Working knowledge of English.
