Civil Engineer (Water Resources Infrastructure Development and Management)

Location: Khartoum, Sudan; candidates must be Sudanese nationals or residents of Sudan with a valid work permit.

What you will do

• Assess water demand, infrastructure alternatives, life-cycle costs, environmental impacts, community impacts, and project risks.
• Lead preliminary assessments, detailed engineering designs, hydraulic calculations, drawings, technical specifications, Bills of Quantities, cost estimates, and bidding documents.
• Conduct site reconnaissance, topographical surveys, and geotechnical investigations for water transmission, distribution, storage, pumping, and treatment infrastructure.
• Supervise contractors and verify compliance with approved designs, technical specifications, budgets, schedules, safety requirements, and environmental management plans.
• Review material approvals, factory acceptance tests, pipeline pressure tests, structural leak tests, payment certificates, measurements, claims, and variation requests.
• Oversee commissioning, trial runs, defect inspections, as-built drawings, and final completion documentation while coordinating with government, technical, monitoring, and implementing-partner teams.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 7 years of professional experience planning, designing, and supervising water infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD and EPANET.
• Familiarity with environmental and social safeguard standards and experience working with governments, UN agencies, or international NGOs.
• Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of another hirify.global language are required for consultants.
• Sudanese nationality or residence in Sudan with a valid work permit is required.
