What you will do

  • Create detailed physical and electrical designs and support project estimates under the guidance of a technical lead.
  • Prepare CAD drawings and project documentation using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Provide design engineering support to project technical leads and deliver assigned work within timelines, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Develop expertise in SEL equipment, protective relays, and electric power system automation solutions.
  • Assist and mentor drafters with technical tasks and provide feedback on process improvements.
  • Travel as needed and follow SEL operating and manufacturing principles.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in EET, CAD, drafting, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in high-voltage electrical design, including protective relay control systems.
  • Demonstrated competency in CAD drafting with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Understanding of installation requirements for protective relays of different types and functions.
  • Ability to learn technical product concepts, assume responsibility, work with moderate supervision, and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills; satisfactory background check and negative drug test results required.

Nice to have

  • BSEE, BSET, or a related design degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience testing and commissioning protective relay, process control, or SCADA control systems.
  • Experience in electrical utilities, consulting, or system integration.
  • Knowledge of protective relay or automation applications.
