Backend Team Lead (Video)

What you will do

• Lead the development, operation, and scaling of mission-critical backend systems for real-time and on-demand video experiences.
• Make architectural and technology decisions focused on scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
• Own the team’s technical roadmap and execution while balancing business priorities and long-term platform investments.
• Contribute hands-on through development, code reviews, technical design, and resolution of complex production issues.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, DevOps, and QA to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in engineering management or team leadership.
• Experience leading large-scale distributed applications in production.
• Hands-on backend development with at least one of TypeScript, PHP, Python, Java, or C++.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and modern CI/CD practices and tools.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, performance optimization, application security, caching, Redis, OpenSearch, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with WebRTC, real-time communication, live streaming, or media delivery platforms.
• Experience with data platforms, event-driven architectures, analytics systems, or other data-intensive applications.
• Experience with React and modern frontend technologies.
