Managing Counsel - Commercial Contracts (Technology)

Location: Shugart, Singapore. Occasional travel may be required, up to 10%.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a cross-border team of commercial contracts managers in Singapore and the U.S.
• Advise business stakeholders on complex domestic and cross-border commercial transactions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, assess nonstandard terms, and recommend risk-based solutions.
• Oversee contract intake, negotiation, approval, execution, amendment, renewal, and archiving.
• Develop templates, playbooks, escalation protocols, workflow standards, and contract management practices.
• Support audits, deliver training, monitor legal developments, and manage outside counsel relationships.

Requirements

• Law degree or equivalent qualification and admission to practice law in Singapore or another jurisdiction acceptable for the role.
• At least six years of post-qualification legal experience with substantial commercial transactional and contracts experience.
• Experience leading and managing a cross-border team of legal professionals.
• Strong knowledge of contracting principles and experience drafting and negotiating complex cross-border commercial agreements.
• Excellent written and verbal professional communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in Singapore is required.

• Experience advising a global technology company or similarly complex multinational business.
• Experience with contract lifecycle management, workflows, approvals, templates, playbooks, and operational improvement.
• Experience supporting audits, delivering training, and managing outside counsel.
• Experience using or learning approved AI tools and applications.
