Head of Software QA (all genders welcome)

Location: Vienna, Austria, hybrid with two home-office days per week

Salary: Minimum gross annual salary of €75,000, with the final package based on experience and expertise.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the QA function across the product ecosystem, including mobile, desktop, and web clients and hardware integrations.
• Lead, hire, develop, and mentor QA engineers through pairing, reviews, and direct feedback.
• Partner with the CTO, Head of Product, Head of Software Development, engineering teams, and external technology partners.
• Define QA strategy, test approaches, quality standards, quality gates, coverage expectations, and escalation paths.
• Lead release-readiness, integration coverage, cross-region validation, and go/no-go decisions while communicating quality risks clearly.
• Improve automation, CI pipelines, test environments, test data, and systemic quality issues through root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• 7+ years of QA Engineering experience, including experience leading QA teams.
• Experience developing QA engineers, providing direct feedback, and building a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Strong practical understanding of testing complex, multi-platform SaaS products, automation architecture, CI/CD integration, API testing, mobile testing, and end-to-end test strategy.
• Technical credibility and the ability to make testing decisions involving AI/ML-based features, cross-component systems, and hardware-software integrations.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluent English is mandatory; the role is based in Vienna, Austria, with a hybrid working model.

• Experience with voice or speech technology.
• Familiarity with AI/ML-based features or hardware-software integrations.
• Experience working in Agile environments at scale and across international distributed teams.
• German or other additional language skills.
