Project Officer (NYOTA) Kenya Kakuma (Business Development and Entrepreneurship): Providing structured mentorship and business development support to refugee and host-community youth in Kakuma and Kalobeyei with an accent on entrepreneurship, financial management, market access, and inclusive programme delivery. Focus on coaching young entrepreneurs, connecting them with markets and financial services, monitoring business progress, and documenting programme outcomes.
Location: Kakuma, Turkana County, Kenya

What you will do
- Conduct at least four structured mentorship sessions over four months for assigned NYOTA participants.
- Provide practical coaching on business planning, financial management, marketing, customer relations, operations, pricing, and record keeping.
- Help young entrepreneurs identify business opportunities and connect with markets, value chains, financial services, cooperatives, and business networks.
- Promote safe, inclusive, gender-responsive, disability-inclusive, and accountable programme delivery.
- Maintain participant records, submit programme reports, and contribute to monitoring, learning, and quality improvement.
- Coordinate with the NYOTA project team, trainers, MSEA, partners, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Commerce, Economics, Development Studies, Livelihoods, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in business mentorship, enterprise coaching, or advisory services.
- Practical entrepreneurship and business management experience, including supporting entrepreneurs through business challenges and growth decisions.
- Knowledge of the local micro and small enterprise and market context.
- Ability to provide practical mentorship and coaching to youth.
- Understanding of inclusive, gender-responsive, and culturally sensitive approaches.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of the refugee and host-community context in Kakuma, Kalobeyei, and/or Dadaab.
