Senior Software Engineer (Minecraft)

Location: Redmond, Washington, United States; 3 days per week in-office

Salary: USD $119,800–$234,700 per year across the U.S.; USD $160,200–$261,000 per year in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do

• Deliver business-critical web experiences with high standards for accessibility, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Design, build, and maintain modern web applications and shared UI capabilities using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Evolve shared web platforms, component libraries, and engineering practices to improve consistency and developer productivity.
• Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and studio stakeholders to shape technical solutions and deliver player-focused outcomes.
• Build cross-discipline relationships and create cohesive web experiences reflecting the Minecraft brand.

Requirements

• 4+ years of technical engineering experience, including coding with languages such as JavaScript, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years designing and building modern web applications with HTML, JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and CSS.
• Experience solving complex web development challenges involving debugging, performance optimization, scalability, maintainability, and cross-browser compatibility.
• 3+ years designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating applications with distributed or service-oriented architectures.
• 3+ years using source control systems such as Git and collaborating in modern development workflows.
• Ability to work from the Redmond, Washington location 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience delivering production-quality customer-facing web applications using modern browser technologies, web standards, and responsive design.
• Experience with architecture and technical design discussions and driving projects from concept through production release.
• Understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
• Experience collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers in cross-functional environments.
