TL;DR
Senior Director, Technology Strategy (AI): Defining and advancing technology strategy across software architecture, AI services, high-performance computing, and platform data strategy with an accent on scalable products, shared capabilities, and governance. Focus on building reference architectures, adopting machine learning and generative AI in production, and leading a global technology strategy organization.
Location: Christchurch, New Zealand; office-based. Occasional after-hours Tier 3 support and flexibility to collaborate across global time zones may be required.

What you will do
- Lead and govern the Technology Strategy roadmap, aligning technology investments with business, product, and engineering priorities.
- Define software architecture, platform data strategy, high-performance computing capabilities, and shared technology services.
- Establish reference architectures, technical standards, governance models, reusable patterns, templates, and shared components.
- Lead the adoption of machine learning and generative AI through shared platforms, reusable services, governance frameworks, and AI roadmaps.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and Technology Operations leaders to align strategic decisions and product delivery.
- Build and lead a global Technology Strategy organisation through hiring, coaching, organisational design, and talent development.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of leadership experience in software engineering, architecture, platform strategy, shared services, or engineering enablement within a global product organisation.
- Proven experience defining technology strategy, technical standards, reference architectures, and governance models adopted across engineering teams.
- Strong expertise in modern software architecture, cloud platforms, high-performance computing, platform data strategy, and shared technology services.
- Production experience delivering machine learning and generative AI capabilities, including responsible AI governance and shared-service approaches.
- Executive-level stakeholder management, communication, and people leadership skills, including experience leading high-performing global teams.
