Test Engineer III (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Southern Pines, North Carolina, United States. Onsite work may take place in an office, laboratory, hangar, or offsite environment. Occasional travel may be required.

What you will do

• Lead the development and execution of comprehensive test plans and procedures.
• Oversee system-, subsystem-, and component-level functional, performance, and environmental testing.
• Analyze test data, identify root causes, document anomalies, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate test requirements and strategies with multidisciplinary engineering and development teams.
• Ensure test processes and equipment comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare test reports, meeting content, briefings, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in engineering or a related field, or a higher relevant degree in lieu of some experience.
• At least 6 years of experience in test engineering or a related role.
• Advanced understanding of test and evaluation principles, engineering practices, requirements management, system design, and systems integration.
• Experience planning, conducting, and documenting Verification and Validation activities.
• Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and troubleshoot logically.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret U.S. security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with testing equipment, standards, manual and automated testing, and preparation of complex test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Product and quality assurance experience, including product non-conformances.
• Certification testing experience with organizations such as FAA, NASA, or DoD.
• Experience testing according to MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or similar standards.
• Aerospace and defense industry experience, including safety risk management and risk mitigation.
