Engineering Manager - Distributed Systems, Python / Go

Location: Globally remote; conditions specify home-based work in the Americas or EMEA. Ability to travel twice a year for company events is required.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software and quality engineers from graduate to senior level.
• Set engineering expectations, improve practices, and ensure delivery against agreed goals.
• Shape technical strategy, architecture, roadmaps, and engineering standards with senior engineers.
• Guide automated testing infrastructure for the reliability, interoperability, performance, and resilience of distributed systems.
• Improve CI pipelines, testing tools, and reporting across bare-metal, private-cloud, and public-cloud environments.
• Contribute through design and code reviews, debugging, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring software engineers.
• Professional software engineering experience with Python or Go.
• Expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, quality engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of software testing processes, strategies, and automation.
• Experience with Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu, plus strong technical judgment in code reviews, architecture, and software design.
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent communication and presentation skills; availability for twice-yearly company travel is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenStack, Juju, Terraform, AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Experience designing testing strategies for distributed or cloud-native systems.
• Experience building large-scale CI/CD and test infrastructure.
• Experience applying AI or machine learning to test analysis, failure classification, or engineering workflows.
• Experience leading globally distributed teams or operating and debugging distributed systems.
