Lead Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Amsterdam or Lisbon offices are mentioned; the company describes a generally hybrid way of working with a minimum of two office days per week unless a role is explicitly stated as fully remote or fully office-based.

What you will do

• Shape the security engineering roadmap and lead complex initiatives from assessment and design through implementation and ongoing operation.
• Design and build security controls and automation across applications, cloud infrastructure, identity and access, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Lead threat modelling, secure code reviews, design reviews, vulnerability investigations, and remediation work.
• Improve dependency and secret scanning, detection and response tooling, and security practices in engineering workflows.
• Contribute to security incident investigations and strengthen preventive controls based on lessons learned.
• Mentor security and product engineers while collaborating with Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Legal, IT, and Trust & Safety.

Requirements

• Substantial hands-on security engineering experience in a software or cloud environment, with a track record of delivering improvements across multiple teams.
• Strong knowledge of application and cloud security, identity and access management, secrets management, and secure software development.
• Experience leading threat modelling, secure code and design reviews, remediation work, and security initiatives.
• Ability to develop or automate in Ruby, Python, Go, or a similar language, and to review backend code.
• Experience integrating security into CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, or infrastructure as code, including operating security tooling in production.
• Experience with security incident investigations or response, technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and Terraform or similar infrastructure tooling.
• Experience in a marketplace, e-commerce, or other software product business, including account and API security.
• Experience securing AI-enabled applications, agents, or data pipelines, or using AI to improve security engineering workflows.
