ICLA Technical Assistant (Humanitarian)

Location: Ethiopia North Afar, with duty stations in Gerani and Sibaybi; travel to and within woredas in the Afar region is required.

What you will do

• Implement delegated ICLA programme activities in line with approved plans, policies, strategies, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide information, counselling, and legal assistance on legal and civil documentation, rights and entitlements, and housing, land and property matters.
• Support participants in resolving legal and civil documentation and housing, land and property issues independently.
• Deliver training using approved NRC materials and templates.
• Record activities accurately, maintain project files, and prepare progress reports.
• Participate in assessments, monitoring, and profiling exercises while coordinating with partners, local authorities, and community outreach workers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in a similar field and experience in a humanitarian or recovery context.
• Understanding of humanitarian interventions, contested areas, humanitarian principles, and codes of conduct.
• Amharic is mandatory; good spoken and written English is required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, negotiation, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision in a challenging field environment.
