Senior Secondary Design Engineer (HV Substations) (Protection and Control): Designing and delivering protection and control systems for high- and medium-voltage substations across global projects with an accent on secondary engineering, AC/DC calculations, and standards-compliant documentation. Focus on developing circuit diagrams and network architectures, sizing cables and batteries, validating engineering deliverables, and resolving complex technical requirements with customers, suppliers, and international teams.

Location: Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; flexible working times and home office opportunity

What you will do

  • Design protection and control panels for high-voltage substations, including circuit diagrams, assembly drawings, and low-voltage specifications.
  • Create single-line diagrams, communication network architectures, protection block diagrams, and other engineering documentation.
  • Translate customer requirements into robust, standards-compliant engineering solutions.
  • Perform AC/DC distribution, cable sizing, battery sizing, and equipment selection calculations.
  • Review project deliverables, validate bills of material, and provide technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and international engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • More than 8 years of experience in HV substation secondary engineering, protection systems, calculations, and design coordination.
  • Practical experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, Engineering Base, ELCAD, or Caddy++.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards, AC/DC calculations, cable sizing, and battery sizing methodologies.
  • Confident English communication skills for collaboration with international project teams and stakeholders.
