Space Systems Engineer – Robotics (Aerospace)

Location: Tres Cantos, Madrid, Spain; hybrid working model with up to 8 weeks per year of teleworking outside the usual geographical area

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for space robotics projects involving ISAM, satellite capture, ADR, refuelling, and in-orbit manipulation.
• Define system requirements and interfaces and coordinate engineering analyses.
• Lead the design of mechanisms and electromechanical equipment.
• Supervise manufacturing, qualification, testing, and validation activities.
• Prepare test campaigns, analyse results, manage issues and non-conformities, and verify compliance with requirements.
• Coordinate engineers, suppliers, and partners while serving as a technical contact for clients, including ESA.

Requirements

• Degree or background in industrial, aeronautical, mechanical, electronic, or related engineering.
• Extensive systems engineering experience within the ESA/ECSS framework.
• Technical leadership experience with teams or complex hardware development projects.
• Experience in mechanical, fluid, materials, and manufacturing design and analysis.
• Knowledge of the space project development cycle, ESA processes, and ECSS regulations for equipment design, verification, qualification, and acceptance.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and structural, thermal, or dynamic analysis software.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISAM, ADR, refuelling, satellite capture, or in-orbit handling and assembly.
