Qualitative Researcher (Market Research): Conducting qualitative market research through interviews and focus groups, developing discussion guides and stimuli, and producing research summaries and presentations with an accent on respondent engagement, moderation, and client-focused analysis. Focus on designing interview materials, coordinating fieldwork and recruitment vendors, and uncovering actionable insights from qualitative research.
Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Hybrid working model combining work from home with on-site presence at client and offices. Travel is required for client-facing work as project needs demand.

What you will do
- Understand client business questions and determine how qualitative market research can address them.
- Support the development of qualitative research discussion guides and stimuli.
- Moderate qualitative research, including in-depth interviews, triad interviews, and focus groups.
- Build rapport with respondents, facilitate engaging conversations, and uncover insights.
- Use technology for scheduling, recording, note-taking, and sharing research stimuli.
- Support deliverables, fieldwork setup, timeline planning, recruitment vendor management, and scheduling.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, life sciences, marketing, or a related field such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, or biology.
- Advanced degree in marketing research or marketing is preferred; an MBA or PhD in marketing, decision sciences, biology, psychology, or a related discipline is also relevant.
- Computer fluency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, written and verbal communication, organization, and planning skills.
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic.
- Must possess or be able to obtain work authorization for the intended country of employment.
